Jackie Smith

Jackie received her bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of North Texas. She went into social work and put her life on hold to help others, overextending herself as a busy case manager and supervisor at a foster care and adoption agency. She changed fields in 2008 in order to achieve a more balanced and healthy lifestyle.

Jackie was introduced to MoveStudio by taking bellydance classes as a fun weekly outing with her sisters. When she resettled in the area, it was her yoga practice that drew her back to MoveStudio. And later, an invitation to try a Nia class was a turning point in her life- Jackie branched out to discover a new way of connecting and moving joyfully.

After several years as manager at MoveStudio, Jackie's devotion to the community led her to become owner and director.  Jackie and her husband, Chad, love being a part of such a vibrant and uplifting community.  They hope to help everyone feel welcome to become their personal best as they strengthen body, mind and spirit.

Kathy McElroy
Nia™, Nia 5 Stages™,
Customer Care

Being active and exercising has always been important to Kathy McElroy because she knew it was key to healthful, energetic and happy existence. She was recovering from several injuries when she stepped into a Nia class at the age of 66- and she finally felt connected to her body, and found her body’s home! Kathy immediately knew it was something she wanted in her life, so enrolled in the white belt training December of that same year and began teaching Nia the next. Kathy has continued to increase her knowledge and body awareness in her Nia practice through the blue belt in 2014, green belt in 2015, Moving to Heal in 2016 and Freedance training in 2017.

Kathy spent 45 years helping people through the often frustrating, complicated and discouraging world of Insurance claims handling. She finds deep satisfaction helping people bring a bad and often times, catastrophic event into a tolerable and successful situation and closure. As she transitioned from corporate world into the world of retirement, she knew that time spent helping people was still a calling, but this time with helping them through their search to feel better, physically, mentally, spiritually and emotionally and she does that through her Brown Belt Nia training and teaching Nia.

Nia brings a sense of joy, groundedness and body acceptance that is unique to any other form of exercise Kathy has experienced. She sees how it is a practice that ‘a body’ as well as her body can use and practice into the rest of her life. Kathy’s encouragement helps students feel the joy of movement and grow in their Nia journey so they too can achieve physical, mental, and emotional health and wellbeing.

Sue Ellen
Retirement is a time for doing those things that sing to your heart. A time to stop and smell the roses and to say thanks to one's body. As Sue Ellen began this leg of her journey she discovered MoveStudio and was introduced to her new best friend-yoga.  Thanks to the wonderful instructors Sue Ellen continues to strengthen her core, flex her mind and body, and is enjoying being with people that have the same passion.

Sue Ellen's backround is varied, but has worked in Banking, Real Estate, Dog Training, and commission sales. The common denominator has always been the joy of being around people-especially happy ones, which is another reason she loves her role at MoveStudio!
