Jackie Smith

Jackie received her bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of North Texas in 2005. She went into social work and put her life on hold to help others, overextending herself as a busy case manager and supervisor at a foster care and adoption agency. She changed fields in 2008 in order to achieve a more balanced and healthy lifestyle.

Jackie was introduced to MoveStudio by taking bellydance classes as a fun weekly outing with her sisters. When she resettled in the area, it was her yoga practice that drew her back to MoveStudio. And later, an invitation to try a Nia class was the greatest blessing- Jackie branched out to discover a new way of connecting and moving joyfully.

After several years of serving as manager at MoveStudio, Jackie's devotion to the community led her to become owner and director.  Jackie and her husband, Chad, love being a part of such a vibrant and uplifting community.  They hope to help everyone feel welcome to become their personal best as they strengthen body, mind and spirit.

Missy Roemer
Customer Care,
Hip Hop,
Zensual Dance Fitness

Growing up in Dallas, Missy was raised in a family that had a passion for traveling, music and dance. She quickly followed in her family's footsteps and began to make adventure and movement a big part of her life. Missy's mom enrolled her in a ballet class at the age of four, and she has been dancing ever since. She soon developed a love for all forms of dance and enjoys taking a variety of classes.

Missy discovered MoveStudio in 2010 and knew instantly that it would be her second home. The community and the mind-body connection offered was unlike any other dance studio she had ever been in. You will most likely see her in a Zumba or Nia class. Always considering herself a choreography dancer, she hesitantly stepped into a Nia class one day and has never looked back! Missy credits Nia with helping her to evolve and grow as a dancer, choreographer and instructor.

Missy also works for Zensual Dance Fitness as a dance instructor and sales assistant. She has been a certified skincare therapist since 2001 and once owned her own skincare business.

Theresa Quintans
Customer Care, Nia

Growing up in Dallas, Theresa’s outlets of creative expression were through piano and harp, her first instruments. Her love of music sparked a fire within her, and unleashed a desire to seek additional ways to express her creativity.

Theresa joyfully danced out of her first Nia class in 2000. Soon after, it was Jule’s Moulin Rouge Nia class that dreAw her to MoveStudio…and Theresa hasn’t left since. The Move Studio community was home.

In 2002, she received her white belt certification in Portland, Oregon from Nia co-founders Debbie Rosas and Carlos Rosas. Since then, she has been dancing through life; her body an instrument of health and expression found through movement and stillness. Over the years, Theresa has been (affectionately) called a Nia “Pixie” and a Nia “Ninja”. In her classes, her wish is to inspire you.

An elementary school art educator, Theresa spends most of her days nurturing and growing the innate creativity found in all children. She also practices Vipassana meditation, Ecstatic dance, enjoys Hoop dance, knitting, cooking, painting, sewing, and whatever else she can dip her toes into…before she dives in.
