A Message from the facilitator, Shannon Mairs:
The Desire Map started out as a book, written by Danielle LaPorte. From there, it became the driver of over 500 book clubs around the world. At the heart of it all? A commitment to feeling good.
Cynics would say that choosing to place your focus on feeling good is silly...maybe even selfish. But I (and thousands of other Desire Mappers around the globe) know better. Because who wants to live a life that doesn't feel good?
Who wants to work in a job that sucks their life force?
Who wants to be in relationships where they don't feel nourished and honored?
Who wants to feel bored in their own life?
Not me. And I'm pretty sure, not you!
The Desire Map taught me how to make better choices by making decisions based on my core desired feelings. And that boils down to living a life that feels good to live.
I've watched this book inspire major transformation in my own life and in the lives of many others. I believe in this material. I know that it works.
....which is why I'm took my passion for The Desire Map one step further- to be an Official Licensed Faciltator of the Desire Map. I'm stepping up and offering to guide other people through The Core Desired Feelings weekend workshops.

Just like cooking; there are specific ways to use oils in different body and household products based on what outcome you’re striving to achieve. We’ll make three different products to take home and use!
We’ll make a body scrub for the shower, an eye makeup remover and a body cream. As we make our products we’ll discuss the basics about the power, impact, safety and effectiveness for essential oil usage.
We’ll be using grapeseed, olive, apricot and coconuts oils in these formulations. If you have any concerns, please feel free to email Jenny at firstname.lastname@example.org with questions.

Proper alignment of the whole body starts with the feet. If the feet are out of alignment everything will be out of alignment. Starting from the ground up we will learn how to anatomically align the body to establish correct posture for standing, walking, sitting and balancing.
Correct alignment helps:
Proper alignment creates more space and allows the breath to become fuller. With more space, the organs and neurological system begin to function properly.
Stop sliding down the slippery slope of misuse and begin the journey of change. When we use the body the way it’s designed to be used we start functioning better and feeling better.
The focus of this workshop is learning how to align the body to achieve optimal health.

Your pelvis is your power center. When your pelvis can move freely, your hip joints are freed, you’ll turn and bend more easily. Running and walking will be easier and more efficient. Sitting becomes more pleasurable.

Each lesson begins with simple movements, which gradually increase in complexity, all organized around a function such as hip opening, movement of the shoulder girdle, or organizing head and neck. You'll discover greater flexibility, improved balance, grace, and pleasure in moving. ATM is a wonderful complement to dance, yoga, Pilates, Nia, and other movement modalities

Instructor Angela Alston, GCFP, MFA, began taking Awareness Through Movement® in 1996. She trained in The Feldenkrais Method® of Somatic Education in New York, Houston, and Chicago and was certified to teach ATM® in 2008. Angel also offers Functional Integration® private sessions. Angela has studied a variety of movement forms, including yoga and dance, and she is an award-winning maker of dance films. She has an MFA from the University of Texas at Austin and a BA in philosophy and biology from Swarthmore College.
