Suzi Carter
Hoop Dance

Suzi first picked up an adult sized hula hoop in the summer of 2009. Though she had no success at keeping the hoop going around her waist at first, she refused to give up. Her tenacity paid off when she returned from Army Basic Training, and her best friend shared the hooping secrets she'd learned during the three months Suzi was gone. All it took was a little instruction! Almost seven years later, Suzi has gone from waist hooping novice to hoop dancer extraordinaire! Through her hooping journey, Suzi learned to connect with her body in ways she never thought possible. This connection also led her to explore movement in yoga, Nia, pole dance, and belly dance.

Punk Rock Hoops Instructor Certified in 2012, Suzi studied with long-time MoveStudio hoop teacher, Blythe Twosisters. Suzi loves to share the joy she found inside the circle!

Michie Gutierrez
Yoga Nidra, Zumba

Michelle “Michie” Gutierrez danced her way through her childhood in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Michie began teaching Zumba in Dallas, receiving her certification in 2010. As a teacher, Michie was inspired by seeing her students connect with their inner spark. She found Zumba to be a powerful practice for setting people free from their hangups about size, shape and skill.

Conscious of the power of physical movement to influence change, Michie began exploring another movement-base practice-yoga. Michie received her CYT200 with a focus on Hatha and Tantra in 2014 under Shanon Buffington. Michie loves seeing her students find balance in their lives as they connect body and mind through the breath. In addition to teaching, Michie has a strong personal yoga practice and continues to study as she pursues her 500 hour certification.

Michie’s dharma is to help women to achieve self-love and compassion. She is an ambassador for the Embody Love movement which helps young girls reject media messages about who they should be in favor of discovering their unique beauty and purpose. Professionally, Michie serves the Make-A-Wish Foundation which helps children with life threatening conditions fulfill their hopes and dreams.
Tamra Henna

Tamra's website
Tamra Henna has been teaching weekly belly dance classes since 2003, and introducing people to belly dancing as an art and a lifestyle continues to be one of her great joys. Tamra Henna's personal style is best described as classic and pan-Arabic, with influences ranging from Egyptian and Lebanese, to vintage and modern American-Arabic Belly Dance. As a teacher, her emphasis on technique, building dance sequences and combinations, learning finger cymbals, exploring folk dances of the Middle East, and understanding the music, history, and culture from which the dance originates gives her students a solid foundation in belly dance, upon which they can build and create their own unique style.

Tamra Henna teaches workshops and performs in festivals around the country. She is also a featured dancer at several Greek, Lebanese, Persian, and Turkish restaurants and nightclubs in the DFW area, putting into continued practice the elements she teaches in her weekly classes.

Theresa Quintans

Growing up in Dallas, Theresa’s outlets of creative expression were through piano and harp, her first instruments. Her love of music sparked a fire within her, and unleashed a desire to seek additional ways to express her creativity.

Theresa joyfully danced out of her first Nia class in 2000. Soon after, it was Jule’s Moulin Rouge Nia class that dreAw her to MoveStudio…and Theresa hasn’t left since. The Move Studio community was home.

In 2002, she received her white belt certification in Portland, Oregon from Nia co-founders Debbie Rosas and Carlos Rosas. Since then, she has been dancing through life; her body an instrument of health and expression found through movement and stillness. Over the years, Theresa has been (affectionately) called a Nia “Pixie” and a Nia “Ninja”. In her classes, her wish is to inspire you.

An elementary school art educator, Theresa spends most of her days nurturing and growing the innate creativity found in all children. She also practices Vipassana meditation, Ecstatic dance, enjoys Hoop dance, knitting, cooking, painting, sewing, and whatever else she can dip her toes into…before she dives in.
Crystal Stroessner
Ecstatic Dance, Yoga

Crystal’s Ecstatic Dance practice started at MoveStudio in 2005, where she fell in love with the dance and the Ecstatic Dance community. Crystal has since taken 5Rythms workshops with Amara Pagano and with Ellen Watson including Waves, Heartbeat and Circles. Crystal is a Hatha Yoga instructor completing her 500RYT Certificate.

Crystal’s Ecstatic Dance practice has taught her about herself, her limitations and fears, and how to be with them without judgment. It has taught her to go deeper and listen to the call of her soul and to "show up" just the way she is, in spite of her fears. She believes this deep meditation in motion is a journey into the soul that will surprise you and challenge you to grow.
